Div Com Kashmir Reviews Eid-ul-Adha Arrangements Across Valley

Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting to review and finalize arrangements for the smooth and peaceful celebration of Eid-ul-Adha across the Kashmir Valley.

During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner directed officers of KPDCL to ensure uninterrupted power supply at major religious shrines including Hazratbal Shrine, Kalashpora, Jenab Sahab Soura, Ziyarat Sharief Kabamarg, Khiram in Anantnag, Ziyarat Sharief Makhama and Aham-i-Sharief in Bandipora.

He also instructed the concerned departments to ensure adequate and uninterrupted supply of potable drinking water and address water-related issues on priority during the festival days.

Stressing the importance of availability of essential commodities, the Divisional Commissioner directed authorities to maintain sufficient stocks of rice, atta, sugar and other daily-use essentials across the Valley.

To meet the expected demand for sacrificial animals ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, the Director Sheep Husbandry was asked to ensure adequate availability throughout Kashmir Division. Wakf authorities were also directed to properly regulate designated sale locations for sacrificial animals to avoid traffic congestion and inconvenience to the public.

The Divisional Commissioner further emphasized extensive market inspections to check overpricing and prevent sale of substandard goods. He called for close coordination among enforcement agencies to ensure fair pricing and adequate supply of essentials, especially mutton and poultry.

Special sanitation drives were also ordered in and around mosques, shrines, marketplaces and residential areas to maintain cleanliness during the festival. The Srinagar Municipal Corporation was directed to deploy sufficient manpower for door-to-door collection of animal hides.

For smooth vehicular movement during Eid celebrations, traffic authorities were instructed to implement effective traffic management plans around major mosques and marketplaces.

The Health Department was directed to deploy medical teams at major shrines and mosques to provide immediate healthcare assistance in view of large gatherings expected during the festival.

To ensure safety and security at congregation sites, directions were also issued for deployment of fire tenders and adequate security personnel for peaceful observance of Eid-ul-Adha.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners, SSPs and senior officers from various departments including Sheep Husbandry, Animal Husbandry, FCS&CA, Health, KPDCL, PHE, SMC, PWD, Fire Services, ULB, Wakf Board and Legal Metrology.
