Srinagar, July 23: Disgruntled Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members do not seem impressed with Sartaj
Madni’s resignation, with many among them looking to celebrate their foundation day on July 28 separately.
The MLA Noorabad, Abdul Majeed Padder said he would celebrate the day in his constituency.
“I will celebrate the foundation day with my people. Resignation tendered by Sartaj Madni is nothing but a
drama. To save the party, he shall have been expelled earlier,” he said.
“The anger has been rising with each passing day. Mehbooba Mufti has so far done nothing to address our
anger. Why did she not drop Madni from the post of Vice-President?”
The MLA Baramulla, Javeed Beigh, said Madni’s resignation would make no difference.
“A committee of senior members shall be formed under the leadership of Muzaffar Hussain Beigh to look
into what went wrong,” he said. “I don’t blame Madni for what happened in the party.”
“Madni is among the senior members who strengthened the party. Whenever I went to him, he was
cooperative. It is Mehbooba Mufti who is responsible. People have taken a sigh of relief after the end of
PDP–BJP alliance.”
The MLA Zadibal, Abid Ansari, said the “big fish” were still in the party.
“Real culprits are still there. Peer Mansoor, Waheed Parra, and Nayeem Akhter are still dominating the
party,” he said.
“We will celebrate the foundation day with Padder,” he said. “We are with Abdul Majeed Padder. We will
join him, wherever he celebrates.”
He said until Mehbooba resigns, their anger will not die down.
“Mehbooba herself created problems in the party. She shall go. Then only things will improve in the party,”
he said.
