SRINAGAR, JUNE 24: Director National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia on Tuesday inaugurated a newly constructed Medical Unit on the campus aimed at providing enhanced healthcare services to students, faculty, and staff on campus.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman, Dean Planning and Development Dr. Yashwant Mehta, Medical Officer Dr. Gawher Nabi, Executive Engineer Dr. Syed Mohsin, AR (Director’s Office & Legal) Mohammad Hazik, Dental Surgeon Dr. Urnaib Riyaz, Dr. Tasaduq Nazk (Physiotherapist), Mohammad Abrar Khan (Sr Pharmacist), Fairoz Malla (Counsellor), and several other faculty and staff members. The newly constructed two-storey health centre is equipped with comprehensive medical services, including a Medical Officer, Dental Surgeon, Physiotherapist, X-ray Technician, Lab Technician, a state-of-the-art diagnostic laboratory, a counselling cell, and two ambulances.
Built under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) grant at a total cost of ₹5.8 crore, the project commenced on August 26, 2022, and was completed on May 15, 2025.
Following the formal inauguration, Prof.Binod Kumar Kanaujia inspected all the facilities, including the OPD section, dental clinic, physiotherapy wing, diagnostic lab, and counselling area. He interacted with the medical staff and reviewed the infrastructure and operational arrangements.
Director NIT Srinagar Prof. Kanaujia appreciated the quality of work and called for regular monitoring, maintenance, and a robust feedback mechanism from students to ensure that the facility remains efficient and responsive to evolving healthcare needs.
He also stressed the importance of health awareness and preventive care within the campus community.
