DIPR organises awareness progs on drug abuse

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 02: As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan, Cultural Unit Srinagar of the Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR), in collaboration with the Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School (GBHSS) Khanyar, and Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) Nowpora, organized two separate compelling awareness programmes centered on drug de-addiction.

At Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Khanyar, a compelling awareness programme centered on drug de-addiction was held. On the occasion, a thought-provoking short play by a local theatre group portrayed the harrowing consequences of substance abuse, leaving a profound impact on the young audience.

Masarat Perveen, Principal of the institution, appreciated the initiative and called for strengthened community efforts to tackle drug-related challenges. Burhan Hussain, Cultural Officer, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the transformative role of art in raising awareness and shaping positive social attitudes.

Similarly, at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Nowpora, a powerful awareness programme focused on drug de-addiction was held. A thought-provoking short play presented by the local artists on the occasion portrayed the emotional, social, and psychological consequences of drug abuse. The performance effectively engaged the students and conveyed a strong anti-drug message, encouraging a collective stand against the menace.

Waheeda Sheikh, Principal of the institution, appreciated the initiative and underlined the role of educational institutions in guiding youth towards a healthy lifestyle. Burhan Hussain, Cultural Officer, also spoke on the occasion, emphasizing the influential role of theatre in raising awareness.
