December 21, 2021

SRINAGAR: `Had ho chuki hain aaja, Jan par bani hain aaja, Mehfil saji hain aaja ke, Teri kami hai aaja….Der naa ho jaye kahin, Der naa ho jaye’….This song from Rishi Kapoor-starrer Heena has become a rallying cry for the people waiting for bulbs to glow as PDD employees go on strike.

Internet has exploded in meme fest after power outage affected people across Jammu and Kashmir. The online jokes ranged from poking fun at the power shutdowns by posting videos of electric bulbs without light, Bollywood songs, and snide remarks.

A video of a blub without light is viral on social media. “Had ho chuki hain aaja, Jan par bani hain aaja, Mehfil saji hain aaja ke, Teri kami hai aaja….Der naa ho jaye kahin, Der naa ho jaye…,” plays in the background.

Another video of a man throwing kangri at an electricity transformer is tickling funny bones in Jammu and Kashmir. “Naar laguwe aath transfarmarmas (let this transformer go to dogs),” said a visibly angry man while throwing kangri at the village transformer.

A video of an LPG lantern kept near the village transformer is leaving people in splits. “Hum tum picture dekh rahi ho kisi theater ke andar… bijli chali jaye aur andhera hi andhera hoi…”plays in the background.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said electricity will be fully restored across Jammu and Kashmir by Tuesday.

Sinha, who was addressing a function, said people across Jammu and Kashmir have suffered badly due to the strike called by the PDD employees.

“People across Jammu and Kashmir have been expecting 24 hours of electricity since long and some reforms have been made by the administration in the last eight months,” he said.
