Florida: A Delta Air Lines flight sparked panic on Monday after one of its engines caught fire while preparing for takeoff at Orlando International Airport. The aircraft, which was bound for Atlanta, was forced to abort its departure and evacuate 282 passengers using emergency slides.

According to CNN, the fire erupted in the tailpipe of the plane’s right engine shortly after the aircraft began taxiing toward the runway. Dramatic footage, captured by a passenger inside the terminal, showed flames shooting out from the engine.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed it has launched an investigation into the incident. Delta Airlines stated that the crew immediately followed emergency procedures to ensure a safe evacuation.

“Delta flight crews followed procedures to evacuate the passenger cabin when flames in the tailpipe of one of the aircraft’s two engines were observed,” a spokesperson told CNN. “We appreciate our customers’ cooperation and apologize for the experience.”

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Delta said alternative arrangements are being made to transport passengers to their final destinations, while maintenance teams inspect the affected aircraft.
