SRINAGAR, MAY 29: In a significant culinary development for food enthusiasts in the Kashmir Valley, the iconic Delhi-based brand Aslam Chicken has made its debut in Srinagar. The first-ever outlet in Jammu and Kashmir was inaugurated on Thursday at Karan Nagar, Srinagar.

The event was graced by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the Chief Cleric of Jammu and Kashmir, who officially inaugurated the outlet alongside Muhammad Aslam, proprietor of the famed Aslam Chicken from Delhi, and Irfan Maqbool, a key figure in bringing the brand to the region.

Speaking at the occasion, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq expressed his delight at the opening, calling it “a welcome addition to Srinagar’s growing culinary landscape” and emphasized the potential for such ventures to promote local employment and entrepreneurship.

Muhammad Aslam, whose name is synonymous with the rich, buttery grilled chicken that has become a staple in Old Delhi’s food culture, said he was “excited to introduce authentic flavors of Delhi to the heart of Kashmir.” He also hinted at future expansion plans across the Valley.

The outlet in Karan Nagar is expected to serve the signature dishes that have made Aslam Chicken a household name—marinated grilled chicken with a rich butter-cream masala, served with naan and mint chutney.

Food lovers in the city have already begun to flock to the outlet, eager to get a taste of one of Delhi’s most iconic dishes now available locally.
