SRINAGAR, JANUARY 18: To take firsthand appraisal of developmental works being carried out at identified religious places/historical assets under a significant initiative of the Government to preserve the rich cultural and architectural heritage in the District, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat Saturday conducted a tour of various City areas.
At the historical Aali Masjid in Eidgah, the DC took on the site review of the plan being executed for its conservation of heritage patterns.
On the occasion, the DC was informed that an amount of Rs 4.85 crore has been approved for the development and conservation of the historic Aali Masjid and a comprehensive DPR has been formulated.
The DC stressed that conservation efforts must retain the aesthetic, heritage, and social values of our cultural legacy. He asked the Officers to utilize the services of architectural experts and study the history of the significant religious place. He also asked them to speed up the process to start the physical works on the prestigious project.
At Vichar Nag Temple in Nowshera, the DC was informed that Rs 4.91 crore has been earmarked for renovation and conservation of the temple.
The DC directed the Officers to take up the works as envisioned under the project at the earliest so that significant religious assets are preserved.
He said the project aims to revive and preserve the religious places that have historical, cultural, and religious significance, besides reflecting the representation of communities and every section of our cultural society.
Later, the DC inspected the proposed site for the construction of the Tehsil Office, Khanyar in the Rainawari area of the District.
At the site, the DC instructed the concerned to take up the necessary measures for the early commencement of the works for the construction of the Tehsil Office so that the general public and Revenue staff are provided better facilities and revenue-related services.
Meanwhile, en route to his City tour, the DC visited Gurdwara Chatti Padshahi and reviewed the development works carried out under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) at the Gurdwara. He also interacted with members of the Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee.
The DC directed the concerned Officers to ensure the proper functioning of the fountains installed at the religious place under NCAP. He also inspected Langar Hall and the parking of the Gurdwara and instructed for the installation of street lights at the Langer and parking area.
During the visit, the DC was accompanied by Superintending Engineer R&B, Chief Planning Officer, Executive Engineers, Tehsildars of Eidgah and Khanyar besides other Officers.
