New Delhi, Dec 25: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today said the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has done a commendable job in tackling Naxalism and restoring peace and stability in the North-Eastern states and Jammu and Kashmir.
Shah visited the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Headquarters in New Delhi. The Home Minister met senior officers of the force and had a comprehensive review of the operations and administrative efficiency of the CRPF. Several senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), including the Union Home Secretary were present at the meeting.
During the meeting, Director General, CRPF, Anish Dayal Singh, apprised the Home Minister about various welfare schemes being implemented for the families of martyred jawans of the force, including compassionate appointments in CRPF.
Union Home Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, CRPF is playing an important role in ensuring internal security and peace in the country. Shah said that the CRPF has done a commendable job in tackling Naxalism and restoring peace and stability in the North-Eastern states and Jammu & Kashmir.
Amit Shah emphasized the importance of promoting Hindi in the daily functioning of the force to strengthen linguistic unity. Along with emphasizing the use of more and more ‘ Ann’ (Millets) for better health of the soldiers, the Home Minister also called upon the soldiers to extract the benefits of Ayurveda and participate in ‘Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan’ to get health insights as per individual’s Prakriti, fostering wellbeing and better health.
The visit of the Union Home Minister underlines the government’s recognition of the CRPF’s commitment to national security and its multifaceted contribution to nation-building.
Earlier on December 23, Shah said violent incidents in Northeast, Left-Wing Extremism hit areas, and Kashmir have dropped by 70%, and fatalities have reduced by approximately 86%.
“Till five years ago, the country faced three long-standing issues – the Northeast, Left-Wing Extremism, and Kashmir, that challenged its peace, law and order, security, and future. Due to the strict policies and tough decisions of the Modi government, the upcoming generations no longer need to worry about these three threats, as we have achieved almost decisive victory over them. The violent incidents in these three regions have dropped by 70%, and fatalities have reduced by approximately 86%,” he said.
Union Home Minister said over the past 10 years, significant successes have been achieved in combating terrorism, Naxalism, insurgency, narcotics, and anarchic elements. He highlighted that since 2014, the Central Government has enhanced and strengthened anti-terrorism capabilities through a “Whole of Government Approach.”
He noted that the Modi government has undertaken numerous initiatives to empower agencies and expand their capabilities. A major focus has also been placed on improving coordination between states and agencies. Shah further mentioned that the government has strengthened these agencies by providing them with the backing of the law and amending several legislations to enhance their effectiveness.
Shah was delivering the ‘37th Intelligence Bureau Centenary Endowment Lecture’ in New Delhi today. On this occasion, the Union Home Secretary, Director of the Intelligence Bureau, former Directors of the Intelligence Bureau, Directors General of Central Police Forces and Central Armed Police Forces, and senior officials from the Intelligence Bureau and the Ministry of Home Affairs were present.
