COVID19: Don’t visit me, Farooq tells workers, ‘well-wishers’

Srinagar, Mar 19:  National Conference president Farooq Abdullah Thursday requested all his “well-wishers”, workers, and party functionaries to refrain from visiting his residence, which has been seeing huge public gatherings following his release from detention.

He said the measure is for time being in order to help avoid transmission of the fatal coronavirus.

“Farooq in all earnest does not want people to suffer following a positive case of COVID-19 in Srinagar,” the NC spokesperson said.

He has prayed for the wellbeing of people and urged them to follow the concerned health and sanitation advisories of the government.

Meanwhile, the party on Thursday suspended all party gatherings/meets in a bid to help stop the transmission of COVID-19 virus in J&K following surfacing of a positive case in Srinagar.

In a statement issued from party headquarters, party spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar has asked people to follow the concerned health advisories of administration in this regard. He has requested its functionaries, workers not to hold any outreach activity for the time being.

He maintained that party’s central office Nawa e Subah would be only open for urgent work.

He said the measure has been taken in view of the crisis like situation in face of the COVID-19 positive case.  Party has urged the public to abide by the directives from the government in this regard. He has also impressed upon the people to refrain from rumor mongering, remission of unverified information on social media.
