COVID19: 10 more test positive in Kashmir; cases in J&K climb to 198

Srinagar: Ten more persons have been tested positive for coronavirus in Kashmir on Friday, taking the total number of cases in J&K to 198.

Dr Ghulam Hassan Yattoo, Deputy Medical Superintendent SKIMS told The Kashmir Monitor that ten positive persons have been tested positive for COVID19 at SKIMS.

“The samples had come from Kupwara and Baramulla districts,” he said.

Earlier, four people were tested positive for COVID-19 in Udhampur district.

The four are the contacts of a 61-year-old woman who died of coronavirus on Wednesday, they said.

“Ten tests were received in Udhampur. Out of these, four have turned out positive. They are known contacts of a woman who died of coronavirus at GMC Jammu,” District Magistrate, Udhampur, Piyush Singla said.

The positive cases included two grand-daughters, daughter-in-law and a neighbour of the deceased woman.

Furthermore, till date 43798 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been put under surveillance which include 8157 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 478 in Hospital Quarantine, 174 in hospital isolation and 25975 under home surveillance. Besides, 9010 persons have completed their 28-day surveillance period.

The bulletin urged the general public to stay indoors, strictly implement social distancing measures, disclose recent travel history to COVID-19 affected countries and report any contact with positive cases voluntarily.

The bulletin stressed on people to take care of their bodies during home stay by ensuring to stay hydrated, eating balanced diet and resting well.
