COVID-19 challenge: IIED showcases 21 innovations to help overcome PPE shortage

Srinagar, April 23: The Innovation, Incubation Entrepreneur Development (IIED) Center- NIT Srinagar will announce the result of `COVID-19 Open Innovation Challenge’ and showcase 21 products in the Banquet Hall, MA Road today.

IIED-NIT had received 40 innovative ideas in the `COVID-19 Open Innovation Challenge’ launched on April 5. Of which 21 ideas have been selected for the exhibition.

The 21 products include ventilators, PPE, sanitation worker’s protection gear, COVID testing kits, IT solution app for identification of red zones and others. 

 “We have developed 21 products from the ideas and they will be exhibited today in the Banquet Hall. Of which, six best products will be selected for mass production,” said Professor Saad Parvez, Head, IIED Centre at NIT Srinagar.

Professor Saad said the jury will declare the result and awards will also be distributed among the idea developers on Thursday at 3 pm. “We are planning to do another such event in collaboration with Srinagar district administration,” he added.

IED-NIT had launched this challenge in partnership with Raheem Greens and Aaraf Foods. The winning submission will receive a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, a certificate, and necessary incubation facilities.
