Corruption increased in Mehbooba’s tenure: Baig

Beigh

Srinagar, July 28: Member Parliament, Muzaffar Hussain Beigh on Saturday said that corruption in the state “increased during the tenure of Mehbooba Mufti”.

Addressing party workers on PDP’s 19th foundation day here, Beigh said, “Mehbooba Ji made efforts yet the corruption increased and is rising even under Governor’s Rule.  I appeal Mehbooba not to give space to any corrupt people in the party. You may feel bad but do it.”

He admitted that PDP ministers did not address the grievances of workers.

“Your anger is justified. An MLA told me that a minister did not meet him to solve his problems. If ministers were not listening to MLAs, how would one expect them to meet the workers,” Beigh said.

“You are angry still you came in thousands in numbers. Please forgive us if any minister made any mistake,” Beigh said in his address with folded hands.

“Don’t have any grudge against the party. You forgive our mistakes; Allah will also show mercy towards you.”

He said that PDP was formed in 1999 when a lot of people were getting killed.

“Over the years, 14-year-olds and 60-year-olds were also martyred,” he said.

He asked the Prime Minister to take action against cow vigilantism.

“Don’t allow country to get divided again,” he said.

He said PDP formed an alliance with BJP, as the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, had a “huge mandate”.

“We thought he may take out Kashmir out of difficulties. We did not form government for the power but to resolve the Kashmir issue,” he said.

He asked workers to participate in panchayat and urban local bodies’ polls.

Paying tributes to senior journalist Shujaat Bukhari, he said, he was assassinated because he was advocating for resolution of Kashmir issue.

“His mission should be our mission,” he added.
