Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir on Friday said that community participation continues to remain the backbone of the anti-drug movement across the Valley, with thousands of mosques and religious institutions actively joining the ongoing awareness campaign.

In a post on X, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir said that since the launch of the accelerated anti-drug campaign on April 11, more than 4,000 mosques and religious institutions across Kashmir have hosted anti-drug outreach programmes with the active participation of 955 religious heads.

The Div Com said that Friday sermons at several major shrines and religious places, including Peer Dastigeer Sahib Khanyar, Jenab Sahib Soura, Dargah Hazratbal, Syed Hyder Reshi Sahib Anantnag, Baba Reshi Tangmarg, Resh Moul Anantnag and Ashmuqam Shrine, highlighted the need for public participation in the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan.”

The administration reiterated its appeal to people to join hands in making Kashmir drug-free through collective social and community efforts.
