Srinagar: On the occasion of National Tourism Day, the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday highlighted the Union Territory’s unparalleled natural beauty, rich cultural heritage and renowned hospitality, while reaffirming the Government’s resolve to promote sustainable and inclusive tourism.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister’s Office said that Jammu and Kashmir continues to remain one of the most sought-after destinations owing to its scenic landscapes and centuries-old traditions.

The post emphasised that the Government is committed to tourism development that generates employment opportunities, safeguards the fragile environment and ensures direct benefits for local communities across the region.

The Chief Minister noted that sustainable tourism is key to long-term economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir and plays a vital role in strengthening livelihoods while preserving the region’s ecological and cultural assets.

The message also underlined the Government’s focus on responsible tourism practices aimed at balancing development with conservation.
