Srinagar, Apr 02: New Delhi’s interlocutor, Dineshwar Sharma termed the killing of civilians “sad” and leading to “negative sentiments”.
He told The Kashmir Monitor that incidents such as the one that happened at Shopian “create hurdles in his efforts”.
Sharma was recently on a visit to the state, in which he met with the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, in Jammu on Sunday.
During the meeting, Sharma briefed Mehbooba about the interactions he has been doing with a cross-section of the society since his appointment.
Earlier on Thursday, he visited north Kashmir’s Tral area and attended a few delegations, even a complete shutdown was observed in the township to protest his arrival. The separatist leaders have already made it clear that they would not speak with the interlocutor, whose appointment, in October 2017, they see as a “new tactic” by New Delhi.
