Srinagar, July 6: Ahead of 2nd anniversary of slain Hizb Commander Burhan Wani authorities have either arrested or placed top Hurriyat leaders under house arrest while in a bid to foil possible protests restrictions were imposed restrictions in parts of old Srinagar city including Nowhatta.
No Friday prayers were allowed at historic Jamia Masjid that was sealed by government forces throughout the day.

Wani was killed in a gunfight with government forces in Anantnag on July 8, 2016.
The uprising that followed in the valley led to the death of over 100 civilian protesters and left more than 10,000 injured.
Hundreds of the injured lost their vision either permanently or partially as forces fired pellet gunshots.
