New Delhi – In the aftermath of the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a nationwide Tiranga Yatra to raise awareness about Operation Sindoor and its broader significance. The operation, launched in response to the April 22 attack that claimed the lives of 26 civilians, targeted multiple terrorist hideouts in Pakistan, resulting in the elimination of nearly 100 militants.
On Monday, BJP President JP Nadda chaired a high-level meeting with national general secretaries to review the outcomes of the operation and outline the party’s strategy for public engagement. During the meeting, it was decided that the Tiranga Yatra will be conducted from May 13 to May 23, spanning ten days across the country. The campaign is aimed at informing citizens about the success of the mission while fostering a spirit of unity and patriotism.
The yatra will be coordinated by senior BJP leaders including Sambit Patra, Vinod Tawde, and Tarun Chugh, with top party officials and Union ministers leading the initiative in various states and regions.
Addressing the media, Sambit Patra praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking swift and decisive action in the wake of the Pahalgam attack. He highlighted that Operation Sindoor had led to the destruction of nine major terrorist hideouts, the death of over 100 militants, and substantial losses for Pakistan, including the reported deaths of 50 soldiers and damage to key strategic assets such as 11 airports.
Patra emphasized that the operation exemplified India’s renewed stance on terrorism—an assertive approach that does not hesitate to cross borders to dismantle threats at their source. He also noted the international support India received following the operation, particularly from nations such as Saudi Arabia and the UAE, even as Pakistan faced growing global isolation.
According to the BJP, Operation Sindoor represents a critical shift in India’s counter-terrorism doctrine, signaling that no territory harboring threats to Indian lives will be considered off-limits. The announcement of the Tiranga Yatra underscores the party’s intent to both commemorate the operation’s success and reinforce national unity in the fight against terrorism
