Srinagar, July 14: Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders are going to meet the Governor, N N Vohra, for action against Mehbooba Mufti over her recent statement.
Mehbooba, the former chief minister and President PDP, has warned the BJP-led central government against “engineering a split” in her party.
Such an attempt could result in a repeat of 1987, she said.
Sources in BJP said the senior leaders in the party would meet Vohra in the next two or three days to share their objections.
“She has openly threatened the central government. BJP feels the statement is anti-national and an open declaration of war against the youth. Besides governor, the party functionaries would be meeting the election commissioner also,” a source said.
The sources said they would ask the election commissioner to cancel the registration of the leaders resorting to such statements.
“She was holding a constitutional position. We will ask for strict action,” a source said.
The sources said the onus of any untoward outcome of Mehbooba’s statement would be on her.“The PDP shall make it clear whom it wants to make Syed Salahuddin or Yasin Malik among Sartaj Madni and Tassaduq Mufti. Mehbooba always has a soft corner for Hurriyat and militants,” a BJP leader said.
“She believed in sab ka saath lekin sirf family ka wikas.”
