Bihar: DSP shoots dead friend while clicking a photo during picnic

A police official allegedly shot dead his friend while they were on a picnic near Tilaiya Dam in Koderma, Bihar, on Friday.

Police are investigating whether he fired the bullet at the victim on purpose or it was an accident.

According to reports, the accused, Ashutosh Kumar, Bihar Provisional DSP, went to Tilaiya Dam in Koderma with three friends for a picnic. He allegedly opened fire while posing with a service pistol for a photo and killed his friend Nikhil Ranjan.

Meanwhile, police took possession of the deceased’s body and seized the Provisional DSP’s service pistol.

Provisional DSP Ashutosh Kumar and a friend of his, Saurav Kumar, have been detained and are being interrogated by police.

“Police are looking into whether the incident was done on purpose or by accident,” said Koderma Headquarters DSP Sanjeev Kumar Singh.

Provisional DSP Ashutosh and his friend Sourav are currently in the hospital undergoing a breath test. Furthermore, the Koderma Police Department has requested the assistance of a fingerprint expert from Sadar Hospital to carry out the investigation.
