Beerwah shuts on the first death anniversary of a local youth

Budgam, July 21: Beerwah township of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district observed a complete shutdown on
the first death anniversary of a local youth who was killed by army on this day last year.
Last year, army soldiers from 53 Rashtriya Rifles used live ammunition to disperse protesters in Beerwah that
resulted in the death of a local youth Tanvir Ahmed Pala resident of Arwah village of the Budgam district.
Reports said that all the shops and business establishments remained shut while skeletal movement of
transport was observed on roads.
Meanwhile, legislator Er.Rasheed visited Beerwah along with dozens of his colleagues and offered fateh at
the martry’s graveyard and addressed a condolence meet at Tanvir’s residence, which was attended by a
large number of people.
Talking to media persons on the occasion Er.Rasheed said, “Despite state police confessing that Tanvir’s
killing was avoidable and unwanted it is shameful that no action has been taken against the killers. There can
be nothing horrible than the fact that state government has not paid even petty ex-gratia to the ill-fated
family.
“Denying justice to victims and giving free hand to black sheep in the forces will never help in bringing peace
in the state”. (CNS)
