Baramulla Police Crack Pattan Theft Case in 48 Hours, Recover ₹5 Lakh Worth Stolen Property

Pattan, June 5: In a swift breakthrough, Baramulla Police solved a theft case within 48 hours of its reporting, arresting two individuals and recovering stolen property worth ₹5 lakh.

The incident came to light on June 3, 2025, when Police Station Pattan received a complaint from Mohammad Amin Dar, a subcontractor with Lumino Industries Ltd and a resident of Sumbal. Dar reported that Dog conductor (wire) had been stolen from a work site in Mamoosa during the night of June 2–3.

Taking prompt action, police registered FIR No. 99/2025 under section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an intensive investigation. Leveraging both technical surveillance and local intelligence, the team identified the vehicle used in the theft and zeroed in on the suspects.

The accused, Shabir Ahmad Tabardar of Singhpora and Umer Nabi Khanday of Zangam, were arrested following detailed interrogation. Based on their disclosures, the stolen wire was successfully recovered, and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime was seized.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain if the accused were involved in similar crimes elsewhere.

Baramulla Police reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring law and order and urged citizens to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
