Baramulla: District Baramulla has emerged as a source of pride for Jammu and Kashmir as its women cyclists delivered commendable performances at the Khelo India Asmita Women’s League, held at Kurukshetra, Haryana, from January 10 to 11, 2026.
The event marked a historic milestone with the maiden participation of the Jammu and Kashmir Women’s Cycling Team in the prestigious league. Notably, all participating riders were from District Baramulla, highlighting the district’s growing contribution to women’s sports at the national level.
Ulfat Mushtaq showcased remarkable determination by securing 10th position in the 30 km Time Trial. Demonstrating exceptional resilience, she went on to finish 11th in the 60 km Mass Start despite suffering a crash during the race, earning appreciation for her courage and sportsmanship.
Mehak Mushtaq delivered a consistent performance, finishing 12th in the 30 km Time Trial and 13th in the 60 km Mass Start, reflecting her discipline and competitive spirit. Adding to the team’s overall achievement, Hoor-i-ein Lone secured 16th position, strengthening the Baramulla contingent’s presence at the national event.
This landmark participation and performance mark a significant step forward for women’s cycling in Jammu and Kashmir.
