Awareness prog held on New Criminal Laws

New Criminal Laws in Kupwara

KUPWARA, MAY 19: As part of its ongoing community outreach and legal literacy initiatives, Police in Kupwara today organized an awareness programme on the recently introduced criminal laws under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) at My New School, Dragmulla.

The session was chaired by Javed Ahmad-JKPS and attended by a panel of legal experts who explained the key changes and reforms introduced by the New Laws. The programme specifically emphasized on victim-centric measures ensuring faster and more sensitive handling of criminal cases, Cybercrime awareness, highlighting preventive measures and legal remedies for students in the digital age and Drug abuse prevention, focusing on the legal, social, and health impacts of substance abuse.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 100 students and teaching staff, who engaged actively in the discussions and Q&A sessions. The programme was also attended by DSP Probationer Raghav, Incharge Dragmulla Bilal Ahmad. Students and staff were encouraged to become informed citizens and share the knowledge within their communities.
