Article 35 A: Observe shutdown on Aug 30,31: Joint Hurriyat

Joint Hurriyat leadership on Friday asked people to observe shutdown on August 30 and 31 instead of  August 26 and 27 to support Article 35-A.

Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday wrote on his Twitter handle, “As the Supreme Court of India is now hearing the case challenging the state subject law of J&K on 31st August as such the statewide protest hartal by JRL against this nefarious move will now be observed on 30th & 31st Aug. However protests by different segments of society will continue,” said Mirwaiz on Twitter.

According to reports a bunch of petitions challenging Article 35-A might come up for hearing in the Supreme Court after August 30 as there is no mention of the petitions challenging the legislation in regular cause list of the apex court till August 30.
