At its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025, Apple announced a significant update to CarPlay, set to launch later this year alongside iOS 26. The refreshed version brings a sleek new design, smarter widgets, and enhanced connectivity—aimed at making driving both safer and more seamless.

One of the most eye-catching changes is a complete visual revamp that introduces the new “Liquid Glass” design language from iOS 26. This modern interface adds depth and interactivity to app icons and controls, making them more responsive and adaptive to light or dark modes. The result is a more fluid integration between the iPhone and the car’s infotainment system.

Incoming call notifications have been redesigned to appear in a more compact layout, ensuring navigation remains uninterrupted. Messaging has also become more driver-friendly, with new features like “Tapbacks” for quick emoji responses and the ability to pin conversations for easy access.

Widgets now take center stage in the updated CarPlay interface, providing instant access to weather, calendar events, and even smart home functions—right from the dashboard. Live Activities, a standout feature from iPhones, are now integrated as well, allowing drivers to view real-time updates like flight status or delivery progress safely on-screen.

Apple’s CarPlay updates with iOS 26 aim to offer a smarter, safer, and more intuitive in-car digital experience for users around the globe.
