Srinagar Mar 8: The J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) termed Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) launched by former minister Altaf Bukhari on Sunday as an offshoot of saffron party.

In a statement, Congress described JKAP as a “creation of various quarters, which have always been hell-bent upon to create chaos and divisions in the political system of J&K.”

It said the motive behind the new formation would be visible on the ground “very soon”.

JKPCC president G.A. Mir said that people “have already witnessed the offshoot of the Saffron Party in the political system of J&K surfaced in 2014, and fully realize as to what was going on behind the curtains.”

“Earlier also the people of Jammu and Kashmir  have witnessed as to how the self-rule and dual currency fake agenda came into existence, on whose directions the formation happened, now some people have again come up with a new formation, but the agenda and motive behind this formation would be clear to people,  very soon,” he said.

Mir said the political class of J&K was aware of “how different quarters and government machinery has been used to impress various mainstream political leaders to join the new formation.”

“As a result, some have succumbed to pressure and were made to join it, but such pressure tactics won’t make any difference on the ground, rather it has exposed the motive behind,” he said.

“One must understand that it is ultimately the people’s power that will decide things in a democratic manner while showing the mirror to power hungry people,” Mir said.
