SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 23: Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board, today inaugurated the upgraded display room for the Holy Relic and the renovated office of the Board at the famous Sufi shrine of Zainuddin Wali (RA) at Aishmuqam in Anantnag district. Dr. Andrabi also laid the foundation for a newly constructed sanitary complex at Sarbal Shrine later.

The Waqf Chairperson paid obeisance at the shrines and prayed for a peaceful and prosperous J&K. She was accompanied by Tehsildar & Executive Magistrate of the Board, Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin, Executive Engineer Tariq Kaloo, and the CEO of PDA.

Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi said that during the past two and a half years, the upgrading of infrastructure and other facilities at all shrines throughout J&K had transformed the management of Sufi shrines. “After ensuring transparency and accountability in the Waqf financial and management system, infrastructural development projects were undertaken by the Board throughout the UT. Here, at these shrines, numerous developmental works were initiated and completed during these thirty months. The change is quite visible, and it is encouraging to see the people acknowledging it,” said Dr. Andrabi.

She added that Sufi thought in Kashmir was the answer to all violence and hatred, helping to strengthen real peace and harmony at the grassroots. “Our Sufis and Rishis are the true ambassadors of truth, who are leading us from darkness to light. We need to strengthen the spiritual centers associated with these beacons of light,” said Darakhshan.

She also inspected other ongoing construction projects at Aishmuqam and laid the foundation for many others.
