Ahmedabad: As industries grapple with complex, interconnected challenges, such as sustainability and technology to human behaviour and systems change, the role of design has evolved far beyond mere geometric form and popular aesthetics. Today, design is a strategic capability, a way of thinking, questioning and creating solutions for an uncertain world. In this evolving landscape, designers are emerging as key contributors and team players who will shape a more sustainable, inclusive and resilient future.
Leveraging this shift, Anant National University, Ahmedabad, prepares young professionals equipped to navigate uncertainty and create the New. The readiness of Anant students to make an impact is reflected in the strong industry interest witnessed by Anant’s Class of 2025, whose graduates are stepping into diverse roles across organisations, sectors and geographies. Their placements and career choices signal a growing demand for professionals who can think systemically, adapt quickly and design intelligently for emerging realities.
Over the years, leading organisations such as Accenture, Sintex, Hidesign, TCS, General Motors (via TCS Design Studio), IIT Kanpur, IIT Gandhinagar, Architect Hafeez Contractor, HCP Design and Swiggy have recruited from Anant. Recruiters have shown particular interest in roles that require critical thinking, innovation-led problem solving, design strategy and sustainability integration, capabilities that go beyond conventional disciplinary boundaries.
At the heart of this demand lies Anant’s belief that design is not a narrow specialisation, but a way of engaging with the wider world. Through a flexible, interdisciplinary curriculum and a strong emphasis on learning by doing, students develop the confidence to work across domains and adapt to emerging professional landscapes.
Anant’s Class of 2025 exemplifies this philosophy. A vibrant cohort comprising artists, sportspersons, performers, innovators and entrepreneurs, the graduating class is ready for equally varied career pathways, ranging from roles in established organisations to independent practice, research and higher education in India and abroad.
Entrepreneurship continues to be a strong pathway as well. Anant’s Aarambh Incubation Centre offered guidance and financial support to over 40 students in their entrepreneurial journey. Aarambh enables students to move beyond the traditional job-seeker mindset and explore becoming job creators, grounding innovation in real-world relevance.
“Design is not limited to form or aesthetics. It is a strategic capability that shapes how we live, work and ultimately build our own future,” says Dr Sanjeev Vidyarthi, Provost, Anant National University. He adds, “At Anant, we focus on nurturing professionals who can think systemically, act responsibly and apply design thinking to address complex challenges. Our goal is to prepare designers who can contribute meaningfully to our society and the mission of nation-building.”
From the first year itself, students engage in studio-based learning, live industry projects, community immersion, internships and collaborative work across disciplines. Students are encouraged to experiment, question assumptions and treat failure not as a verdict, but as a valuable iteration in the creative process. This enables graduates to step into professional environments with confidence, clarity and adaptability.
Isha Bhalodia, a Space Design student from the Class of 2025 with Communication Design as minor, is now working as an Interior Designer at the Chairman’s Office of the Reliance Industries Pvt Ltd. She says, “My journey at Anant was truly transformative. Anant’s BDes programme helped me develop into a well-rounded design professional. Through hands-on learning, peer collaboration and close mentorship, I gained the confidence and clarity to apply design thinking in real-world contexts. At Reliance, I am now translating these learnings into practice.”
Campus placements are not positioned as the sole measure of success at Anant, but as one of several meaningful outcomes of a design education that values exploration, responsibility and impact.
With growing industry trust and a strong emphasis on design-led, impact-oriented education, Anant National University continues to strengthen its position as India’s premier design university, one that prepares professionals capable of shaping a more equitable, sustainable and resilient future.
