AMU scholar new Hizb joinee?

Srinagar, Jan 07: A research scholar from North Kashmir’s Kupwara district has, apparently, become the latest from the next generation to join the militant ranks.
According to local reports, Mannan Wani son of Bashir Ahmed Wani from Tekipora area of Lolab, Kupwara, went missing from his home a few days back.
On Sunday, however, Mannan’s photo holding an assault rifle went viral among social media users in Kashmir suggesting that he may have joined militancy ranks.
A research scholar pursuing his PhD in applied Geology at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Mannan, as per unconfirmed reports, was quite active during the recent AMU elections.
The photograph of his that went viral read that he had joined Hizbul Mujahideen outfit on January 05 and was given code name, Hamzah bhai.
It even listed his address and qualification. “M.Phil, Ph.D in applied geology (AMU, Aligarh).”
Mannan father, a local of the area told The Kashmir Monitor, was a government teacher.
Despite repeated attempts, SSP Kupwara was not available for his comments.
