New Delhi, Oct 8: Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday reviewed the ground situation of Jammu and Kashmir during a meeting with state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in New Delhi, two months post revocation of Article 370, with party leaders, sources said.

The meeting was conducted to take stock of the ground situation in the Kashmir Valley and discuss preparedness ahead of block development council (BDC) elections in the state slated for October 24.

Several prominent leaders of Jammu and Kashmir unit of the BJP were present in the meeting.

In the meeting, Amit Shah directed the BJP leaders in Jammu and Kashmir to put all possible efforts to restore normalcy and peace in the Valley. He asked the leaders to support administration towards reopening of schools and other educational institutions in the region and start outreach programs to bring people at ease, sources said.

Amit Shah said that government employees must be brought back to work immediately.

As the party is eyeing to win 90 per cent BDC seat, Amit Shah asked party leaders to give power and space to panchs and sarpanches to perform in the polls. The BJP has been making continuous efforts to make a place for the party at the grassroots level in the Valley.

‘You blessed us with 300 seats, we abrogated Art 370’

Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah Tuesday said the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the historic step of uniting the country with the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir, here on Tuesday (8 October).

“You blessed us with 300 seats (in Lok Sabha), we have scrapped the Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir and brought the Kashmiris into the national mainstream,” Shah said during an event in Beed Maharashtra.

He lashed out at the opponents of the move and urged the gathering to “question” such people, and propagate the glorious achievement of striking down Article 370 in each and every home in their villages.

We will ensure that justice is done to all our brethren who have been suffering since 70 years,” Shah said.
