Srinagar: Renowned author and public intellectual Amir Suhail Wani called on Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in Srinagar and held discussions on Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage, social harmony and youth development.
During the meeting, the two exchanged views on Jammu and Kashmir’s composite socio-cultural legacy, particularly the region’s Rishi-Sufi tradition, which has long promoted communal harmony and coexistence. Discussions also covered Wani’s work on Kashmiri Saivism, mysticism, comparative religion, interfaith dialogue, literature, philosophy and youth empowerment.
On the occasion, Wani presented the Lieutenant Governor with a copy of Sri Aurobindo’s Essays on the Gita along with a collection of his writings on religion, literature, philosophy and social thought.
The Lieutenant Governor appreciated Wani’s intellectual contributions and his efforts to promote dialogue, understanding and cultural awareness through his writings and public engagements. He also commended Wani’s achievements despite the challenges posed by cerebral palsy, describing his journey as an inspiring example of determination and commitment to knowledge.
Shri Sinha further acknowledged Wani’s perseverance in pursuing justice in the ongoing Junior Engineer (Electrical) recruitment matter and appreciated his faith in democratic institutions and the judicial process.
The Lieutenant Governor offered guidance on expanding the reach and impact of Wani’s scholarly work and encouraged him to continue contributing to society through research, writing and public service.
The meeting concluded with the Lieutenant Governor conveying his best wishes to Wani for his future endeavours and expressing confidence in his continued contributions to society through scholarship and constructive engagement.
