Amid strict health protocols, 80,000 students appear for Class X exam in Kashmir

Srinagar:  More than 80,000 students on Saturday appeared for the Class X examination amid strict health safety protocols.

Nearly 791 examination centres have been set up for 80000 students across Kashmir. 

“A team of the Health Department will be available for students. Waiting halls have also been reserved for parents,” Prof Aijaz Hakak, Joint Secretary, Examination, Board of School Education (BOSE),  told media persons.

He said heads of the institutions have been asked to ensure adequate heating and lighting arrangements in the examination halls.

“The heads of the schools where exam centres have been set up, have been asked to adhere to all the Covid 19 guidelines,” he said

Disaster Management J&K has asked the students to carry their parents’ consent.

Students appearing in class 10 and 12 annual examinations have been given 30 percent relaxation in the syllabus. BOSE has however reduced the time allotted for attempting the question papers during the examination.

The papers shall have to be attempted in two and a half hours instead of three hours.

Hakak said the number of examination centers has been increased to ensure the proper distance between the examinees.

“Only 50 percent seating capacity will be occupied in one exam hall in order to maintain proper distance,” he said.
