All vehicles to be disinfected, police to assist in shutting down vulnerable places: SMC

Srinagar, Mar 18: Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Wednesday said that it is going to procure thermal scanners for testing public for coronavirus at Airport, Railway station, Hospitals, and other important public places.

It added that all vehicles in Srinagar shall be disinfected and pasted with the stickers indicating the date and venue and validity of sterilization.

A spokesperson of the Corporation said that in wake of coronavirus scare, a meeting under the Chairmanship of Mayor Srinagar was held in Central Office SMC.

“Expressing great concern over the rising situation due to the apprehension of spread of COVID-19, the chair directed that necessary collaborative steps would be taken to disinfect Railways stations, Bus Stands, Mini Bus Stands Sumo and Taxi Stands and the plying Buses as well.  Mr. Mattu informed that the Sunday market, Macca Market, Gyms etc. have already been closed,” the spokesperson said.

Police authorities shall extend every possible help in complete shutting down of vendor markets, restaurants, Golf courses and other vulnerable places of public gathering, emphasized the Mayor.

Special emphasis shall be given for sanitization, fumigation and chemical spraying in and around chest diseases hospital in Dalgate Srinagar, he further added.

The following health advisories were recommended by all the participants:

1. Thermal Scanners shall be procured for testing the public at Airport, Railway station, Hospitals (Both Government/Private) and other important public places.

2. All Hospitals of the City shall be sterilized and sanitized with the recommended Chemical QAC (Quaternary Ammonium Chloride).

3. The Medical/Para-Medical Staff of all the Hospitals shall be provided with quality gloves and masks.

4. The isolation clinics/Kiosks for suspected cases of the said viral infection shall be established at proper places in the hospitals.

5. Mass gathering of people inside the hospitals shall be strictly banned.

All Station House Officers shall be directed to ensure strict ban on entry of the public in gardens, parks, restaurants, Gymnasiums etc.

Ahead of sterilization campaign against COVID-19 all the vehicles plying within the jurisdiction of Srinagar City shall be disinfected and pasted with the stickers indicating the date/venue and validity of sterilization issued by the Commissioner, SMC.

The sterilization/sanitization of public transport shall be taken up in hand at eight sensitive sites of the City like Pantha Chowk, Parimpora, TRC yard, Soura etc (Notification to be issued separately). The sterilization team shall comprise of eight liaison officers each from Traffic Police and Municipal Corporation Srinagar.

A joint control room shall be established within the premises Srinagar Municipal Corporation Karan Nagar Srinagar. The participating officers of all the departments viz Police, Health, Transport, Traffic and SMC shall depute Nodal Officers of their respective departments to the control room for monitoring, liaison and for keeping a vigil on the updates added Mattu.

The Meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor, Srinagar, Chairman, Public Health & Sanitation Committee, SMC, Commissioner, SMC, Sr. Superintendent of Police, Traffic Srinagar, Regional Transport Officer, Kashmir, Addl. Superintendent of Police, Srinagar, Joint Commissioner (Adm.), SMC, Dy. Superintendent of Police, Srinagar, Deputy Director, Health Services Kashmir, Health Officer, SMC, Deputy Director (P&M), SMC, Secretary, SMC, Executive Engineer (Mech.), SMC and Chief Sanitation Officer, SMC.
