After qualifying for I-league, arriving Champions greeted with love and hope

Srinagar, Jun 02: After a startling performance in the recently concluded I-League (2nd division), of which they emerged the winners, Real Kashmir Football Club Saturday returned home to a warm welcome by the club’s fans and lovers of football.
At the Srinagar International Airport, scores of people were waiting to welcome the wining team that has made history and brought laurels to the state by becoming the first club from J&K to secure a berthin the top division.
Among its fans at the airport was IGP Traffic, BasantRath, an ardent football lover, who congratulated the team on their success and advised the players to remain focused to achieve even higher accolades.
Dozens of other fans made a beeline to click photographs with the team members hoping that they achieve even higher limits while placing Kashmir back on the football map of India.
On Wednesday, Real Kashmir qualified for the I-League after getting past Delhi’s Hindustan FC 3-2 in the second division league at the FSV Arena in Bengaluru.
David Robertson’s side needed only a point to win the title and promotion on the final day of the season and they delivered a clinical performance to blank Hindustan FC.
It was the third meeting between the two teams. In the group-league stage, Real Kashmir held Hindustan FC 3-3 in Srinagar and in the return leg in the capital, the score was 0-0.
