Srinagar, July 6: The body of a policeman who was abducted by suspected militants from his native village in Shopian district on late Thursday evening was found in neighboring district Kulgam on Friday morning. An official said that two to three suspected militants abducted the police Constable namely Javid Ahmad Dar alias Judge Dar son of Abdul Hamid Dar near his residence in Vehil village of Shopian around late Thursday evening. Dar was taken to an unknown destination, the official said. Friday morning the bullet-riddled body of the cop was found at Pariwan village in neighboring Kulgam district, he said. The officer said that a police team immediately reached the spot and the body has been taken for medico-legal formalities. The incident comes less than a month after an Indian Army soldier, Aurangzeb, was kidnapped and later killed by militants in Pulwama district. On 14 June, when Aurangzeb was travelling in a private vehicle to Shopian, his vehicle was intercepted by armed militants who abducted him. Security forces had suspended anti-militancy cordon and search operations in Jammu and Kashmir under a peace initiative of the central government on the occasion of Eid. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh was in Srinagar on 5 July, first time since the imposition of Governor’s Rule in the state and said that peace and stability could be brought to the state through an honest, effective and efficient administration.
