Srinagar: Vivek Bali, State President of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), has appealed to the Union Railway Minister to introduce a scheduled halt for the Vande Bharat Express at Anantnag Railway Station.
In his statement, Bali highlighted that Anantnag is a key commercial and tourism hub in South Kashmir, serving as a vital link to several major tourist destinations and business centres. He noted that the region witnesses heavy passenger movement, including tourists, traders, students, and daily commuters.
He said the absence of a halt for the Vande Bharat Express at Anantnag is causing inconvenience to the public. Introducing a at the station, he added, would significantly improve accessibility, reduce travel time, and provide modern rail connectivity to a large population.
Bali further stressed that Anantnag acts as a gateway to prominent tourist spots and plays an important role in boosting the local economy. A designated stop for the Vande Bharat Express, he said, would strengthen tourism infrastructure and enhance commercial activity in Jammu and Kashmir.
He urged the Railway Ministry to consider the demand on priority and take necessary steps to include Anantnag Railway Station as a halt on the Vande Bharat route.
The SBSP reiterated its commitment to raising public issues and advocating for development-oriented initiatives in the region.
