80 percent of JK enrolled in Aadhaar: Govt

Jammu, Apr 24: Chief Secretary, B B Vyas on Tuesday convened a meeting to review the progress on Aadhaar Enrollment and related issues in the state, here today.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Secretary School Education, Secretary IT, besides other officers from concerned departments, representative from the office of Chief Post Master General, J&K, SLBC were present in the meeting.
Secretary Information Technology Department Saugat Biswas, apprised the meeting that as per 2011 census, till date, 80% enrollment has been done in J&K, with the remaining number primarily comprising age groups (0-5) and (6-18).
Taking note, the Chief Secretary directed the concerned departments to gear up and complete the works for enrollment of Anganwari beneficiaries (age 0-5), and school students (age 6-18).
The CS directed the departments to ensure that all procured machines for Aadhaar enrollment are deployed to their designated locations and activated within this month. He asked the UIDAI to undertake examinations for certification of Aadhaar operators and complete the process by the end of this month .
Further, directions were issued for compiling a detailed list of all Aadhaar enrollment facilities made available at various locations functioning under multiple departments. He asked the district administrations to extend all necessary support to facilitate these activities.
The representative of SLBC apprised the meeting of performance of banks for Aadhaar enrollment.
The Chief Secretary directed the SLBC to ensure that the non-performing banks, that have been accorded the mandate, take up enrollment immediately.
