Srinagar, August 9: Another militant was killed in a gunfight at Rafiabad forests in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday taking the militant toll in the operation to five.
Officials said the gunfight resumed on Thursday morning when the hiding militant opened fire at the forces combing the forest area.“5th militant fired in the morning & was neutralised soon after,” J&K Police chief SP Vaid tweeted.
The gunfight had erupted on Wednesday morning at the dense Doniwari forest in Rafiabad when security forces intercepted a group of heavily armed militants. In the initial exchange of fire a para commando was injured.
In the gunfight that continued the whole day four militants who are believed to have infiltrated recently were killed.Sources said the anti-militant operation is still under way.
