54 travellers cross sides on LoC bus in Uri

Srinagar, Apr 23: Twenty seven (27) passengers from each of the two sides Srinagar and Muzafarabad on Karwan-e-Aman bus crossed sides on the Line of Control in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district Monday.

Official sources said  that twenty seven passengers from Srinagar boarded the Karwan-e-Aman bus and crossed to the other side of the LoC to reach Muzafarabad and equal number of passengers including sixteen women, nine men and two children travelled from Muzafarabad to Srinagar.

Twenty seven passengers who travelled from Srinagar to Muzafarabad include fourteen men, eleven women and two children.

Out of twenty seven passengers who travelled from Muzafarabad to Srinagar seventeen were fresh travelers and the rest returned to their homes after meeting their relatives in Muzafarabad.

Managing Director J&K SRTC Mir Afroz when contacted told KNS “twenty seven passengers from each side travelled on cross LoC bus today and reached their destinations.”

It is in place to mention here that in the year 2005 when Mufti Mohammad Sayeed led PDP-Congress coalition government was in place the Srinagar-Muzafarabad bus service was started for the first time after 1947 partition to help the members of separated families meet each other.
