Srinagar, Oct 20: Army on Saturday said that it killed four infiltrators and bodies of three of them have been recovered so far at Tourna woods of Boniyar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Commanding officer of Turna Battalion Ashutosh briefed media on Saturday and said that the army foiled the major infiltration attempt by the militants along Line of Control (LOC) in Rampur sector of Baramulla district on Thursday morning.
“The militants attempted to infiltrate by exploiting the thick jungles close to LoC and were detected by the vigilant army troops deployed along the LoC,” he said.
Soon after the gunfight concluded, the army troops conducted prolonged search operations in thick jungle amid difficult terrain conditions which lasted for over two days, resulting in the recovery of bodies of three “foreign militants” and a large quantity of warlike stores including 4-AK rifles so far, he said.
The Commanding officer also said that the searches are underway to retrieve the body of the fourth militant in the area.
Taking to GNS on the sidelines of the press conference, the army officer said that the slain militants were highly trained as was evident during the operation.
