Srinagar, Apr 01: Just two days prior to her retirement, a professor, who was working as incharge director Jammu and Kashmir Institute of Mathematical Science (JKIMS) Srinagar, has been elevated as its full-fledged Director and given an extension of two years.

On Saturday, Asghar Hassan Samoon, Secretary Higher Education Department, issued an official order elevating Asiya Sidiqi, as Director JKIMS, Srinagar.

“In the interest of administration and to facilitate smooth functioning of newly established Jammu and Kashmir Institute of Mathematical Sciences (JKIMS), Srinagar, sanction is hereby accorded to the engagement of Ms Asiya Sidiqi I/C Director, JKIMS, who is retiring on superannuation on 31 03 2018, as director JKIMS for a period of two years w e f, 01 04 2018, with the terms and conditions applicable to such engagements issued by the govt time to time,” read the order.

It added: “Issued with the prior approval of chairperson, Executive Council (JKIMS) Chief Minister JK.”

Asiya, a mathematics professor is wife of Prof. Mushtaq A Siddiqi, Vice Chancellor Islamic University of Science and Technology.

The order to elevate Asiya comes even as government, as per a 2015 order, had imposed a blanket on any and all re-engagements or re-employments.
