Mumbai, April 26: A 34-year-old woman lost her life and six others, including two children, suffered from suffocation after a fire broke out early Saturday morning at a residential building in Andheri’s Lokhandwala Complex, officials said.
The blaze started around 2.40 am in a first-floor flat of the eight-storey Broke Land building. According to civic officials, the deceased, identified as Abhina Sanjanwala, succumbed to suffocation and was declared dead at Kokilaben Hospital.
Among the injured are a 10-day-old infant and a three-year-old child, who were rushed to Kokilaben Hospital, with the newborn being treated in the ICU. Two male victims have been admitted to Cooper Hospital and Trauma Care Centre.
Officials said the fire was mainly limited to household items, including electrical wiring, furniture, and documents. Four fire brigade vehicles were deployed to control the blaze. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
