Srinagar, Jan 6: Zohra Begum, eldest sister of late Shamim Ahmad Shamim, passed away late Saturday. She had been ailing for some time.

A pious lady, Zohra was married to a well-known businessman of south Kashmir, Syed Haroon Rashid.

Besides her husband, she left behind two sons, Riyaz Hussain and Aejaz Hussain – both senior lawyers.

She also happened to be the aunt (khaala) of The Kashmir Monitor Chief Editor, Zafar Meraj.

Her funeral prayers were offered Sunday morning following which, she was laid to rest at Rawatpora graveyard in Barzulla here.

The fateh prayers of the dear departed, as per her family members, will be performed at the Rawatpora graveyard, behind Bone and Joints Hospital, on January 8, at 11 am.

A condolence meeting will be held later at Community Centre, Ikhrajpora, Jawahar Nagar.
