London :Former West Indies captain and batting legend Vivian Richards said that if he was part of Indian Premier League (IPL), he would have loved to play under the captaincy of Virat Kohli.

One of the greatest ODI batsmen of all-time, Richards said he enjoys Kohli’s captaincy because of his aggressive and passionate attitude.

“I would say someone like Virat. I like his aggressive attitude. I love someone who demands that sort of respect for what he does himself and what he can achieve and I believe I would love to play for an individual like him. He brings passion, he wears his heart on his sleeve and I love guys like that,” Richards said Sportskeeda.

Kohli took over India’s Test captaincy in 2015 and was handed the full-time limited-overs reign in January 2017. And the Delhi cricketer has been a raging hit in his new role. Under him, India reached the top of the ODI rankings and are still the No. 1 Test side in the world. The 29-year-old has captained India in 35 Tests and won 21 of them and lost just five. In ODIs, he has captained India (2013 to present) in 49 matches and has won 38 of them. In T20Is, he has won seven of the 12 matches as a captain.

At the same time, Kohli has also shined with the bat, leading his side from the front. After being appointed the full-time captain of India across all the formats, Kohli smashed 2818 international runs in 2017 across all formats. The India skipper scored 1059 runs in 10 Tests, 1460 runs in 26 ODIs and 299 runs in 10 T20 Internationals. He continued his rich vein of form in 2018 against South Africa as he made 286 runs from three Tests, including a hundred and fifty each. Kohli also led the charts in ODIs, smashing 558 runs from six games at a staggering average of 186 — it also included three hundreds and a fifty.
