Bhopal: Gwalior police are on the lookout for two men accused of gang-raping an Army jawan’s wife and blackmailing her.

According to police, the incident occurred in 2020, but a complaint was registered at a police station on Sunday.

The victim’s husband, who is a resident of Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior district, is currently posted in Jammu and Kashmir, IANS was told.

The matter came to light after the victim, along with her husband, reached a local police station on Sunday and lodged a complaint against the accused.

In her complaint, the woman claimed that the accused gang-raped her after threatening her with a sharp-edged weapon and recorded the crime.

She further told the police that she had visited Gwalior fair during which she purchased an automatic gas stove from a shop and was told that a person would visit her home for fixing it.

Later, a person who introduced himself as Govind Thapak, along with one of his friends, visited the victim’s home for installing the stove.

The woman had met Thapak at the shop while buying the stove. Finding the woman alone at home, the accused grabbed her put a sharp-edged weapon on her neck, and gang-raped her. They also recorded the act.

Later, the accused later started blackmailing her, threatening to share the video on social media. They extorted Rs two lakh from her. The woman claimed that she was raped by the accused several times since then.

When the accused demanded money from the victim and threatened to kill her children, she shared her ordeal with her husband, who suggested lodging a complaint. Subsequently, she along with her husband reached a local police station in the Gwalior district and lodged a complaint on Sunday.

“An FIR has been registered against Govind Thapak on the basis of the victim’s complaint. Further investigation in the matter is underway,” a senior police official posted in Murar police station told IANS on Monday.
