Watch for Ravanan in Real Kashmir’s clash with Chennai

Srinagar, Dec 20: As underdog Real Kashmir FC is scheduled to clash with unbeaten Chennai FC in the I League on Saturday, its defender, Dharamraj Ravanan, is set to be the spotlight.

Ravanan, one of the most experienced players in RKFC squad, has played three seasons of prestigious Indian Super League apart from representing reputed clubs like Chennai City FC, Mohun Bagan, Churchill Brothers, Mahindra United and many others.

With a career of over 14 years as a professional footballer, Ravanan is a household name in Tamil Nadu, considering his contribution to the local clubs and match-winning performances.

The stadium is likely to remain packed on the match day, with people expected to visit from the nearby districts to watch the local lads perform.

Playing at the home turf after a gap of nearly one year, Ravanan said the match could be one of the memorable games of his career.

“It is always a good feeling to play in my home state. Most importantly against the team I captained a year before. The upcoming match is very important for my team and we hope to carry forward our momentum ahead,” he said.

Ravanan, who currently is undergoing rigorous practice session in his home state, said that he was hopeful of a “good” match against Chennai City FC.

“It will really matter for us as the game is very significant for the team. If we are able to get three points here, our team will be in a stronger position. And for me, the win cannot be lesser than a treat,” he said.

Ravanan said a crowd would come to watch the game considering the popularity of football in the region.

“I can assure you that at least 15,000 people will witness the match. Many of my friends and relatives have already booked tickets to watch me playing in the upcoming match,” he said.

Scores of the people particularly football enthusiasts have been meeting Ravanan here in Coimbatore ever since the team arrived here for practice sessions.

An official at the Nehru Stadium here also confirmed that the spectators will arrive at the stadium in thousands.

“People here are aware of Real Kashmir FC and since the match day is Saturday, which is a holiday, people will turn in thousands to watch the match,” he said.
