SRINAGAR: Chairperson of the Waqf Board, Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, paid a visit to Chrar-e-Sharief, where she offered prayers at the shrine of Sheikhul Aalam Nooruddin Noorani (RA). The visit, marked by spiritual reverence and developmental initiatives, saw the presence of Waqf Board Member Syed Mohammad Haqqani, SDM Chadiora Muzamil Ahmad, Executive Magistrate Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin, and socio-political leaders Arshad Bhat and Kamran Bhat. The event was also graced by Head Imam of the Shrine Maulana Amiruddin and Molvi Younis Ahmad Haji.
Dr. Andrabi inaugurated the grand Deodi for the shrine complex, adding a touch of splendor to the sacred site. Additionally, she dedicated a modern Utility cum Sanitary Complex to the people, both of which were completed by the Waqf Board ahead of schedule. The completion of these projects reflects the Board’s commitment to timely and efficient infrastructure development.
The Chairperson received a warm welcome from local citizens and Board authorities upon her arrival at Chrar-e-Sharief. Addressing a large gathering, Dr. Andrabi highlighted the remarkable achievements of the Waqf Board over the last eighteen months. She expressed gratitude to the people of the area for their cooperation and efforts in promoting the developmental initiatives of the Board in Chrar-e-Sharief.
“Much more is on the cards as we are committed to upgrading the infrastructure within the allotted time frame. For the first time in decades, the Waqf Board is building or upgrading infrastructure at our shrines using our own resources. Earlier, this money went into the pockets of some politicians who manipulated Waqf assets,” remarked Dr. Darakhshan.
She addressed criticisms, stating that those whose interests are affected by the reforms in the Waqf Board are complaining about its working. Dr. Andrabi reiterated the commitment to providing a transparent system at all costs through the Waqf Board, aiming to transform the shrines into model places of visit.
