Vyas meets public deputations in Srinagar

Srinagar, Dec 03: Advisor to Governor, B.B Vyas, on Monday said that a prompt grievance redressal mechanism has been put in place in view of the ensuing winter and harsh weather conditions so that people do not face any inconvenience viz-a-viz essential services and their deliverance.

HoDs and their representatives were present in the interaction who facilitated the on-spot disposal of public grievances and those who were not present were directed telephonically for immediate resolution of issues pertaining to the public.

Listening to the grievances of a number of delegations and individuals during his scheduled public Darbar programmes in Srinagar, Vyas asked officials to reach out to the people and address their issues at an earliest. Keeping Kashmir harsh winter in mind, grievances of the people which get doubled must be addressed without any delay.

“The officials need to understand that people with grievances have high expectations from the government, especially from their concerned officials,” he said. The Advisor said, “Therefore, it is our duty that the concerned officials meet the expectations of these people.

He asked people to come forward and contribute to the development of the State. He said he was overwhelmed to see people in many areas addressing their issues on the community level rather than complaining about the system.

Vyas listened to the grievances of over 50 delegations and scores of other individuals from different districts of Kashmir division—who met him here at Church Lane, Srinagar under the aegis of Governor’s Grievance Cell for redressal of public grievances.

During the camp, Vyas said that functioning and service delivery of government departments have been revamped so that the grievances of people are redressed at an earliest and flagship schemes and welfare programmes are fast-paced. The delegations comprising from various districts Kashmir region apprised the Advisor of their grievances and sought his intervention in ensuring outcome-based redressal.

The grievance redressal camp was attended by senior officers, Revenue, FCS&CA, Agriculture, Horticulture and other allied departments and wings of the administration.

A delegation from central Kashmir’s district Budgam demanded a hike in compensation for the land acquired for the ring road project. A delegation led by Dr GN Tantry demanded the construction of drainage, sewerage system at Friends Lane, Lal Bazar. A delegation of students from Budgam demanded relief in admissions on Bed course.

A delegation from north Kashmir’s Gurez area demanded compensation or jobs for the stakeholders whose families were dislocated in NHPC’s ongoing projects.

A delegation of south Kashmir’s Tral town raised many issues with the Advisor to which Vyas assured prompt redressal. A delegation of senior assistants from the Department of Rural development raised the issue of promotions with the Advisor.  The Advisor assured that he would soon hold a conference and examine their issues.

Meanwhile, deputy mayor, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Shiekh Imran called on Advisor Vyas and discussed issues pertaining to Srinagar city.
