Srinagar: The Lieutenant Governer-led administration has appointed Nitishwar Kumar, a 1996 Batch IAS officer from Uttar Pradesh, as new Principal Secretary to Lt Guv in Jammu and Kashmir.
An official notification in this regard reads: “Consequent upon the inter-cadre deputation of Nitishwar Kumar, IAS (UP:1996) from Uttar Pradesh to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and in the interest of administration, the following transfers and postings are hereby
ordered with immediate effect: Bipul Pathak, IAS (JK: 1992), Principal Secretary’ to the Lieutenant Governor, holding additional charge of Administrative Secretary’, Science & Technology, Information Technology Departments, CEO, JaKeGA and CEO, JAKEDA, is transferred and posted as Principal Secretary to the Government, Information Technology Department. He shall continue to hold the charge of Principal Secretary to the Government, Science and Technology Department, CEO, JaKeGA and CEO, JAKEDA, in addition to his own duties, till further orders (sic.)”.
“Nitishwar Kumar, IAS (UP:1996), is posted as Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor”, the notification reads further.
The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet on Sunday approved Kumar’s deputation in an official order which read: “The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of Department of Personnel and Training (AIS Division) for Inter Cadre deputation of Shri Nitishwar Kumar, IAS (UP: 1996) from Uttar Pradesh to Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for a period of one year, in relaxation of policy”.
Kumar has worked as private secretary to LG Manoj Sinha when he was Union Minister in BJP-led central government.
